How should you prepare? How will you know if your talk was a success?

In answer, I offer you three speaking-related stories, a “Don’t”, a “Do,” and the latest “ah-HA!” God’s laid on my heart.

A Phenomenal Late Night Discovery

The eagerly anticipated Ladies’ Extravaganza Hoo Ha Thingy is in just six hours. You have fever. Ache all over. Look even worse than you feel.  No matter how much you try to will away your not-so-common cold and flu plague, there’s just no way around it. These ladies are going to have to somehow pull off this event tonight without you. What happens next in this scenario?

Are you in ministry? Do you serve others in some capacity for the Lord? Then may I share with you a little cautionary wisdom? When God is on the move and ministry is on your heart all hell will break loose. Count on it.

We are all different. Like the perfect shirt, we all come in different sizes, shapes and colors. We all have differents strengths, weaknesses, personalities and passions. 

My family recently took a 1,000 mile road trip to visit my parents. Two parents, two college kids, our luggage, my stack of books, and Daniel’s guitar all crammed into one vehicle could have spelled disaster. 

Most likely you’ve enjoyed a slice of cake with women from your church.  Dessert and women’s ministry go hand in hand, right?  But what about putting a twist on the whole dessert thing? 

I’m great at brainstorming. I love to fill a page with ideas, scribbled arrows, circles, and stars. But when it comes time to carry out those ideas, I don’t have quite as much fun figuring out the details and recruiting people to help.
